Bio
Brett Kim enters his second season coaching with the Mendocino College baseball program in 2026. He brings extensive coaching experience and a long history of success at the high school, collegiate, and summer baseball levels.
Kim served as the hitting coach at Sonoma State University from 2005 to 2017, helping guide the program to five conference championships, two NCAA West Regional Championships, and two College World Series appearances in 2008 and 2011. His work with hitters during that period was key to the program’s sustained success.
Before joining Sonoma State, Kim spent eight seasons as the head baseball coach at Novato High School. Under his leadership, the program captured a league championship in 2001, and he was named Conference Coach of the Year.
Since 1995, Kim has also served as president and owner of the Novato Knicks. This long-standing, respected baseball organization has qualified for the Stan Musial World Series multiple times. In this role, he has been deeply involved in player development and exposure at the regional and national levels.
As a player, Kim competed at San Marin High School and at College of Marin before being selected in the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Kim’s experience as a coach, player, and program developer continues to be a valuable asset in the ongoing advancement of Mendocino College's baseball program.
Kim lives in Vallejo, California, with his wife, Michelle, whom he married on November 12, 2016. Together, they are proud to support and inspire the next generation of athletes in the community and beyond.
