Mendocino College Baseball Earns 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

UKIAH, Calif. – The Mendocino College Baseball program has earned national recognition as a recipient of the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.

The prestigious award recognizes high school and collegiate baseball programs that achieved a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the 2025-26 academic year. More than 800 programs nationwide were honored this year, including nearly 500 collegiate programs from the NCAA, NAIA, and California Community College levels.

"This recognition is a direct reflection of our student-athletes, faculty, tutors, counselors, and the culture we have built," said Head Coach Michael Nackord. "We challenge our players to pursue excellence in every area of their lives. Competing at a high level on the field is important, but earning a college education and preparing for life after baseball remain at the heart of our program. I'm incredibly proud of our team for this accomplishment."

Mendocino College proudly represented the Bay Valley Conference as the conference's sole baseball program to earn the 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, underscoring the program's commitment to academic excellence and student success.

The academic honor is another reflection of the Eagles' commitment to excellence in the classroom while competing at a high level on the field.

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award is presented annually to programs whose head coach is a current ABCA member and whose team posts a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 for the academic year.

The American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches in the United States and has recognized excellence in coaching and student-athlete achievement for more than 80 years.
