Brodie Miller Signs with Dakota Wesleyan University
Mendocino College sophomore catcher Brodie Miller has signed to continue his academic and baseball careers at Dakota Wesleyan University. Miller is the fourth member of the Eagles' program to commit to Dakota Wesleyan, joining Elijah Aguilar, Matthew Anderson, and Joseph Bettiga.
A native of Santa Maria, California, and a Righetti High School graduate, Miller emerged as one of the top catchers in the Bay Valley Conference over two seasons at Mendocino College. The 6-foot-4 catcher earned Second Team All-Bay Valley Conference honors after a strong sophomore season, during which he made an impact both offensively and behind the plate.
Miller hit .300 with a .385 on-base percentage in 2026, collecting 30 hits, driving in 21 runs, scoring 16 times, drawing 13 walks, and striking out only 11 times in 100 at-bats.
His greatest impact, however, came behind the plate.
Behind the plate, Miller played a central role in leading and managing the Eagles' pitching staff while contributing significantly to Mendocino's defensive success. In 2026, he posted a .989 fielding percentage, committed only two errors in 181 chances, allowed just four passed balls, and threw out 12 runners attempting to steal.
Over his two-year Mendocino career, Miller appeared in 59 games and finished with a .293 batting average, .349 on-base percentage, 56 hits, 41 RBIs, and 30 runs scored. Defensively, he posted a .994 career fielding percentage with just two errors in 328 total chances.
For Mendocino College Head Coach Michael Nackord, Miller's advancement to the four-year level holds special meaning. Nackord originally recruited Miller while coaching at Sonoma State University, before becoming Mendocino College's head coach.
"Brodie is a special one for me because I originally recruited him out of high school while I was at Sonoma State. When I took the head coaching position at Mendocino, he put his trust in me and followed me to Ukiah," Nackord said. "I am extremely proud of the player and young man he has become. Over the past two years, Brodie has developed the leadership, toughness, work ethic, and competitive spirit that made him a cornerstone of our program. I am excited to watch him continue his baseball career at Dakota Wesleyan, and I will follow him closely next season."
Coach Brett Kim played a key role in Miller's development behind the plate, challenging him to become tougher, more accountable, and more confident in his ability to lead the pitching staff.
"Brodie has come a long way since he first got here," Kim said. "He had to get tougher, both physically and mentally, and learn to handle the demands of being a college catcher. To his credit, he did. He became a really good all-around catcher, learned to lead a pitching staff, and developed a much tougher mentality. I pushed him hard because I knew what he was capable of. I love the kid and couldn't be prouder of how much he has grown. Dakota Wesleyan is getting a good one."
Miller's ability to control the running game, communicate with pitchers, and provide stability behind the plate made him a key part of the Eagles' identity in 2026. His leadership helped the Mendocino defense finish first in the Bay Valley Conference with a .964 fielding percentage.
Miller will now take the next step in his academic and athletic career at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. His signing continues a growing connection between the Mendocino College Baseball program and Dakota Wesleyan, while adding another Eagle to the list of student-athletes advancing to the four-year level.
Mendocino College Baseball congratulates Brodie and his family on this achievement and looks forward to following his continued success at Dakota Wesleyan University.
