Kent Abe Commits to Whittier College Baseball
Mendocino College Baseball is proud to announce that Kent Abe has committed to continue his academic and baseball careers at Whittier College, where he will compete for the Poets starting in the 2027 season.
Abe, a Kinesiology major from Fremont, California, represented the Eagles with distinction in the classroom, earning 2026 CCCBCA All-State Academic Team honors. His commitment to academics exemplified the standards of excellence expected of Mendocino College student-athletes.
During his two seasons with the Eagles, Abe appeared in 31 games, posting a .340 career batting average, a .417 on-base percentage, 15 RBIs, and two home runs. In 2026, he batted .333 with 10 RBIs and delivered quality at-bats in key situations throughout the season.
"We're proud of Kent for earning the opportunity to continue his baseball career at Whittier College," said Head Coach Michael Nackord. "His dedication in the classroom and perseverance throughout his time in our program have opened the door for him to compete at the next level. We wish him nothing but success as he begins this next chapter."
Whittier College competes in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), where Abe may have the chance to face fellow Mendocino College alumnus Evan Needham, who recently committed to Chapman University.
The Mendocino College Baseball family congratulates Kent on this achievement and wishes him continued academic and athletic success at Whittier College.
