Mendocino College Baseball: 2025 Season Recap

Head Coach Michael Nackord and the Mendocino College Baseball program proudly conclude the 2025 season, establishing a foundation of pride, resilience, unwavering standards, and competitive spirit. Alongside Coach Nackord are Coaches Brett Kim and Bill Kurata, who helped prepare the players to face adversity head-on, remain dedicated to their development, and build a culture rooted in hard work, toughness, growth, and teamwork.

"This group faced challenges early but never lost faith in themselves or each other," said Coach Nackord. "They trusted the process, stayed together, and finished the season on fire — winning 10 of their final 15 games, walking off Laney College, sweeping back-to-back series, and closing the year on an impressive six-game winning streak."

During that 15-game stretch, Mendocino College climbed four spots in the Bay Valley Conference standings, moving from seventh place to finish fourth, narrowly missing a playoff berth. The team's batting average climbed to .295, outscoring opponents 133–81 over the final stretch. The starting pitching staff also stepped up in a big way, delivering two complete games and providing a competitive edge throughout the second half of the season.

The Eagles also celebrated significant academic and athletic accomplishments.

Five players—Maddox Albaum, Lane Cox, Darius Ford, Scotty Kato, and Griffin Roberts—received honors on the CCCBCA 2025 Academic All-State Team.

On the field, standout performances were recognized, with Caleb Ford (First Team BVC All-Conference), Cody Guy (Second Team BVC All-Conference), and Dominic Joseph (Second Team BVC All-Conference) receiving conference honors.

Coaches Nackord, Kim, and Kurata emphasized not only competing at a high level but also doing so with a strong work ethic, thorough preparation, and genuine camaraderie. Their leadership shaped a season marked by measurable progress both on and off the field.

The Mendocino College Baseball program proudly honors the tradition and success established by generations of alumni and families who laid the groundwork for what this team continues to develop today. That history remains central to the Eagle identity and continues to propel the program forward with a standard of excellence.

This season highlighted the power of belief, commitment, and grit, and the future remains filled with opportunities for those prepared to continue raising the standard.
